LVD (Low Voltage Directive) is a regulation in the European Union for the safety of electrical equipment, aimed at regulating that electrical equipment within a specific voltage range will not pose safety risks such as electric shock and fire to users during use.
The LVD Directive (2014/35/EU) applies to all electrical equipment operating at voltages between 50V to 1000V alternating current (AC) and 75V to 1500V direct current (DC), but excludes certain equipment and phenomena, such as electrical equipment in explosive environments, radiological and medical electrical equipment, electrical components of freight and passenger elevators, electricity meters, household plugs and sockets, etc.
