EU Electric Heater ERP Energy Efficiency Regulation Update

Original Regulation (EU) 2015/1188.

UPDATE

1. Scope of Control

The control range of commercial local space heaters has been expanded from below 120 kW to below 300 kW; The capacity range of household local space heaters remains unchanged;

Added requirements for independent controllers;

Added requirements for towel racks;

The category of radiant local space electric heaters has been removed and merged into mobile or fixed local space electric heaters.

2. Ecological design requirements

2.1. Seasonal spatial heating efficiency η s

The calculation method is different from the current regulations: the calculation formula, the calculation factor corresponding to the product function, and the CC coefficient change;

Added two computational factors: self-learning function and temperature control accuracy;

If the temperature control accuracy is claimed, it needs to be verified through testing according to EN 15500-1.

2.2.  Functional requirements

Regenerative local space electric heaters should be equipped with electronic heat controllers, which have indoor and outdoor temperature feedback and fan assisted heat output functions;

Towel racks with a nominal heat output of 60 W or less must have a working time limit function, with a maximum preset time not exceeding 6 hours;

Local space electric heaters that are not equipped with controllers when put on the market shall not provide heat output without controllers.

2.3 Low power mode

Need to provide shutdown mode or standby mode, or both.



2.4 Other

Added product information requirements for heaters shipped without controllers and independent controllers;

Requirements for related spare parts (after-sales maintenance): supply duration, spare parts list, price, purchase process, delivery time, etc;

Obtain repair and maintenance information;

The product design complies with the relevant requirements of Directive 2012/19/EU.
