The new coordinated standard for EU goggles will be enforced on November 11, 2024
Time:2024/12/17
The new coordinated standard EN ISO 16321-1:2022 for EU goggles will fully replace the old standard EN 166:2001 on November 11, 2024. On November 11, 2024, the CE certification process for all goggles can only be applied for in compliance with the new standards.
Goggles belong to the second category of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the European Union and must have a CE mark certified by a notified body in order to enter the EU market for sale. The UK and Northern Ireland have similar regulatory requirements for protective goggles, corresponding to the UKCA and UKNI logos. Products that illegally enter the market without obtaining relevant marks will face risks such as notification, recall, and punishment.
Pay close attention! The acquisition of CE, UKCA, and UKNI certifications and marks involves a longer application period, ranging from approximately 1 to several months. It is recommended that manufacturers and traders of goggles carefully plan their testing, certification, and logistics trade cycles to avoid unnecessary losses caused by untimely certification.
